Architecture is the most public of the arts yet is often judged on the most personal level. On the occasion of the American Institute of Architects' 150th anniversary, the AIA commissioned a public poll where people were asked to select buildings that symbolize innovation and the spirit of their country and community. AIA released the list of the public's 150 favorite buildings in February and started a lively discussion of what defines a significant work of architecture. (Click here to view the America's Favorite Architecture exhibit) With that national discussion as a backdrop, the local chapter of the AIA asked its members to vote for the twenty five buildings that they feel are the best examples of architecture in our fifteen county territory. Unlike the national poll, the top twenty five buildings listed here are selected by the architects of this community. Do you agree with our survey results? Would you rank the projects differently? Do you have a favorite project that was not included? We invite you to join the conversation by adding your comments at the bottom of this page. Map All Properties
